Dr Christine Furedy

Glenn was the web guru for me and my husband Professor John Furedy for over twenty years, and he became a valued friend. We appreciated his sharp intelligence and careful web work. He set up our web pages and updated them and often advised on computer problems. When John died in 2016, Glenn set up a Wikipedia entry for him; it was a work in progress, slowed by Glenn’s increasing illness. That Glenn did this even as his health deteriorated meant a great deal to me. Glenn had an acute political sense and we appreciated his comments on current affairs. He spoke strongly on freedom of speech and honesty in politics. We enjoyed his sense of humour. From him, I learnt about Ontario’s butterflies. He was a skilled photographer. He loved cats and remembered his very first cat, Missy. Glenn was sometimes misunderstood in workplaces because he did not ‘conform’ to politically ‘correct’ strictures, but he was a gentle, kind, well-meaning person, who frankly said what he meant without fear. Our society needs more people like Glenn Richardson. I will miss him greatly. Dr Christine Furedy, D. Phil.
