Lillie Taylor ~ At LaPointe-Fisher Nursing Home, Guelph, on Sunday, August 28, 2016, Mrs. Lillie Inez (Wilson) Taylor of Guelph and formerly of Southampton, in her 92nd year.

Lillie was born on February 9, 1925 in Listowel, the daughter of the late Roy Irvine and Wilhelmine Christina (Wieben) Wilson.

Lillie was predeceased by her beloved husband Doug Taylor on February 4, 2016 and by her stillborn son Thomas Roy Thomas in 1959.

She is survived by her sisters Eva Ottmann of Brantford, Iris Wilson of Guelph, niece Madelaine Wilson, and brother-in-law Jack Taylor. She will be remembered by her best friends John and Shirley Gade of Shelburne, and George Gade of Harriston.

Lillie and Doug met at a square dance in Guelph at the YMCA and they were married on February 7, 1959 at Knox Presbyterian Church in Guelph.

Lillie and Doug resided in Guelph for many years where Lillie worked in the office at Guelph General Hospital before they moved to Southampton in 1976 with Snowball, their American Eskimo dog. 'Pr' Royal Duchess, their second American Eskimo dog, joined Doug and Lillie in 1988.

She loved gardening and music, and joined Doug in many outdoor activities.

In June, 2014, Doug and Lillie moved to Pinecrest Manor LTC in Lucknow, and then to The Village LTC in Hanover in April, 2015. In May, 2016, Lillie moved to LaPointe-Fischer LTC in Guelph.

A private family funeral service was held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel, with Rev. Ernie Naylor officiating. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.

Memorial donations to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated, and may be made through the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel (519-291-4840).
