Condolences

Condolence From: Doug Moser
Condolence: I was saddened to hear of George's passing. I met George in 1974 while carrying mail in Listowel. He was the experienced mailman as everyone else there either transferred from the inside or were brand new to the post office. George and I got along right away. He was always there with tips (and a few tricks) to get the mail sorted and delivered regardless the kind of day he was having. One story I still tell is the time when all letter carriers in Listowel were going to bid on their permanent routes. Up until then each letter carrier switched routes once a month to get a feel for them all. Well, time came for bidding (by seniority remember!), everyone knew which route they wanted and they all wanted this one specific route, Walk 1 as it was called. Being junior man I was going to get the last route left. George being senior carrier would get what ever walk he wanted. He did not want Walk 1 but knew that I did. George, always being his helpful self came to me and told me to bid for the walk. I was confused by this but trusted George. Right after that, George walked through the post office and proclaimed he was going to bid on Walk 1. The other letter carriers knowing they had no chance started bidding on other walks. I bid on Walk 1, no one else did, including George. It wound up I was the only bid for Walk 1 and George being senior bid on the walk he wanted (and got)I am sure I can hear him chuckling right now! To his family, I can only say I enjoyed my time knowing George. My thoughts are with you all.

Condolence: Dear Family:
My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time. I knew George when he lived in Seaforth. I worked in the drug store and my church entertained the retirement residents at Seaforth Manor. He was such a friendly person. I really enjoyed talking to him.
