Rita Vollmer ~ at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Sunday, December 14, 2014, Mrs. Rita Mary (Freiburger) Vollmer of Listowel, in her 84th year.

Beloved wife of Joseph Vollmer.

Mother of Paulette and Ralph Coneybeare of R.R.4, Listowel, Robert and Trish Vollmer of Kitchener, James and Janice Vollmer of London, William and Lynn Vollmer of Edmonton, Alberta, Murray and Shelly Vollmer of R.R. 2, Wingham, and Susan and Steve Player of Listowel.

Grandmother of 19, and great-grandmother of 7.

Sister of Harold Freiburger, Margaret Fitzgerald, and Ralph Freiburger, all of Waterloo, Hilbert and Evelyn Freiburger of Kitchener, and Jean and Larry Robertson of Hamilton, and sister-in-law of Norma Freiburger of Sault Ste. Marie, and Carol Freiburger, and Loreen Freiburger, both of Waterloo.

Predeceased by her infant son Richard, sisters Sister Herbert Freiburger, Theresa Davidson, Helen Freiburger, and Lorraine Hartman, her brothers Jerome, Claude, Robert, and William Freiburger, and brother-in-law John Fitzgerald.

Rita was one of the fourteen children born to Herbert and Alfreda (Strauss) Freiburger, and raised in the St. Clements area. She and Joseph were married in 1955, and raised their six children while farming in Elma Township for 35 years. Rita was an active member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Listowel where she was a 40-year member of the CWL. In addition to helping in the church whenever there was a need, she also loved to make crafts and play cards with both family and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with parish prayers and rosary at 1:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Listowel, on Thursday, December 18th at 11:00 a.m.

Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hesson.

Memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Building Fund would be appreciated.
